Free or almost free stuff to do in and around Branson, Missouri

You don't have to spend a lot of money to have fun in Branson, Missouri. Branson, in the past 20 years, has added more shows than may be in Nashville. The country music shows and celebrities offer musical entertainment on a daily basis in fabulously luxurious Vegas style theatres. Truly a sight to behold! But, for families who are being economical about their travels these days, Branson still has so much to offer.

Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery

The Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery is a fun educational experience for one and all. In fact, it is one of Branson's most popular sites. You can find the hatchery right below Table Rock Dam. Once in the Hatchery, you will be able to see native fish from Missouri which are housed in several good sized aquariums. You can also walk through the Hatchery and learn about the hatching process. A visit to the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery is free and you can take a self-guided tour.

  Table Rock Lake and Dam

No trip to Branson would be complete without checking out the Table Rock Lake and Dam. The dam was built in 1958 and it actually created Table Rock Lake. You should spend some time just gawking at how the Dam holds back water from the White River. If you are lucky, you may even get a chance to see the Dam being used to adjust the depth of Table Rock Lake.

The Table Rock Lake area offers all of the potential activities a lake has to offer. You can swim, fish, boat, ski, scuba dive, hike and camp. If you love to fish, you may need to purchase a fishing license.
  Stone Hill Winery

The Stone Hill winery offers free tours and a tasting after the tour. Adults may taste small amounts of the various kinds of Stone Hill wine and children will be treated to grape juice.

College of the Ozarks

C of O

On the College of the Ozarks campus, you will be able to tour the Edwards Mill and the Ralph Foster Museum. These attractions are home to some of the top collections of Ozark history. Adults and seniors have a small admission fee ($4.50/adults - $3.50/seniors 62+), High School age and under are free.

  Historic Downtown Branson

Although Branson has become a very modern city, the historic Branson downtown area is a step back in time. If you love to shop or just window shop, this is a fun place with quaint stores and eateries.

Now, who would have guessed you could visit Branson Missouri and not spend a dime on entertainment? Well, that is right! With a little planning and a good imagination, you can have a memorable vacation in Branson Missouri for little to know dinero.
